Supreme Court Strikes Down Abortion Clinic ‘Buffer Zone’ Law

On June 26, 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a Massachusetts law requiring pro-life “sidewalk counselors” to stay at least 35 feet away from abortion clinics was an unconstitutional infringement of their free speech rights. Ironically, Planned Parenthood is fighting hard in Tennessee against Amendment 1, which if passed will allow your representatives to enact laws requiring abortion clinics to inform women of abortion-specific risks of the procedure and giving women a period of time before undergoing an abortion to carefully consider their decision.
